about

an ode to beat boxing.

lyrics

Before the days there were so many djs
and the roads where paved with booming 808s
Rappers needed somethin' to carry the rythm
but the boombox was too large for them to carry with 'em
These were the days in the early 1980's
hip hop was at it's freshest in the battles in the street
every crew had at least one brother
who knew how to do the human orchestra

Bass, Hat, Breath in, breath out
Human Beat Box make the music with your mouth
Bass, Hat, Breath in, breath out
Human Beat Box make the music with your mouth

As A Kid I was a fan of the antics of the Fat Boys
Buffy's the original human beatbox
but Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick's La Di Daddi
kept me practicing my breath control until I got it
close enough to wanna rock it at a show
So I entered a 4H contest at 12 years old
I grabbed the microphone and pushed my glasses up my nose
But the judges pulled the plug and said to take my act and go
